Give Me Some of that NY Pride

And now the continuation of The Liberty Bears travels...

And travel is just what we did!  This past weekend we went back to where it all started NY Pride Weekend!  The men, boys, bears, cubs and otters were all out in force during the entire weekend.  It was known that a Liberty Bear or two downed a shot of tequila here and there!

The best part for us was the March (aka the Parade).  We had a few members where this was their first New York Pride Parade so it was extra special for those of us who have marched in it before or just was a participant in the activities.

Many laughs, collecting of Mardi Gras beads and reconnecting with some old friends ensued on the streets of Manhattan.  We even picked up a few along the way to join in our merriment.

We all, in unison, decided we had enough of unicorns, rainbows and glitter and being the bears we are decided we should do what we do best.  Let's go and have some BRUNCH at a place suggested by our newest pledge Al.

We were led upstairs to a very quaint second floor dining room.  Though, slightly mobbed, the service was timely as well as the food.  French Toast Monte Cristo, Bagels and Lox, Steak and Eggs and Omelets galore ensued and we each tried some of the others plates.  Of course, the added bonus of refills on Mimosas and Bloody Mary's is always a good thing as well!

We picked up another two new friends from here.  One of party had two friends meet and eat with him there and shared the afternoon and evening with them.  Couldn't be nicer guys!

So, after a Bear gets his belly filled what does he need to do?  Go out for some beers and cocktails!  First stop and a leisurely walk through the West Village to Rockbar.  That great meeting place for bears and their admirers.

We handed out many of the cards and were in awe of how many of you want to follow us now and are excited by our new events!  We made a few new friends and saw a few of our fans from both here in Philly and all around the Mid Atlantic.  YOU guys are the reason we do what we do!  Special shout out to Mr. Connecticut Leather 2012 we will definitely be talking!  Thanks for the kind offer.

One side note to the NYPD.  We didn't envy you.  While we were attempting just to go the 3/4 of a block to Rockbar, you were there stuck in gating hell.  When three of us were literally pushed into you by what can only be described as raving lunatics you did your job admirably!  'Nuff said!

We decided to move on to the biggest and baddest of the spots, the legendary Eagle!  Our kind of leather and bear bar but first ~ the saga of getting a cab on the West Side Highway.

How were we going to do it intrepid readers?  Were we attempting the impossible of finding, not one but two cabs, during Pride to get us there.  After a few minutes of waiting we FINALLY got one with a cool driver who was both jovial and atypical New York.  Read old school, just how we like them.

Our President, Web Designer and Events guy saddled up to the bar and got serviced by the hot and very fun Milton.  If you are there at the Eagle look for the big muscle boy with the griffin on his shoulder.  He will take care of you!

Again, we started handing out the event cards and people took them like they were a hot Broadway ticket.  You all know we will make sure it is the hottest ticket of the summer and most talked about parties as well!  Producers, agents, corporate, retail managers and every kind wanted a piece of the action.  Even two porn stars, Arpad Milos, call us!

Then the worst happened...

We lost the rest of the crew....

Instead of standing by the highway thumbing a ride they decided to walk the 18 blocks.

Then we were all on board and got rid of at least 300 cards!  Hopefully, some of you whom we met yesterday are reading this!

What an amazing day of fellowship, friendship with old and new and engaging memories.  We'll post a few pics here, on Twitter, on Facebook and others!

On a side note, was amazing to stand last night and on one end of the island walking into the train station at World Trade Center that is 3/4 completed and looking uptown and seeing the Empire State Building in it's Pride Flag colors.  Couldn't have asked for a better ending!
